EXTRA POINTS OF INTEREST AT
WHO CUT THE CHEESE

What's up with that big old chianti bottle hanging by the cheese "cave"? Well, that's a family heirloom. That bottle has crossed the United States more than your average vagabond!

It was given to the Tuomelas by their crazy, feuding neighbors, the Fredrikssons back in 1965. Next to the chianti bottle are the pictures to prove it! The whole family is there in both pictures: Vickie, Henry, Ann, Dad, Mom, Fran and John. Yes, that's the "Wee" Cheese starting her wine career at the young age of five!

Moving to the right on the on the back wall, you will notice a huge cheese board. Wow! If that board could talk! That cheese board was the special guest for numerous naval aviator parties, and did those people know how to party!

Before we go on to more trinkets, I want to touch a bit on where and when the strong interest in food took place. "The art of snacking" goes way back to Skanee,Michigan, fondly referred to as "boot camp." As children we spent every summer on the upper peninsula in Michigan. That is where we all learned our work ethic and the art of eating! Grandma would always have a "pic-a-nic" with Finnish "skinny" bread, summer sausage, smoked white fish or lake trout, and home brewed root beer. Camp meals would take another chapter, so you must come in if you want details!

Now, back to nicknacks of interest. The first cupboard on the right hand side of the shop with the open glass doors has what appears to be fish nets. Fish nets? What's up with those? My grandparents and great grandparents were fishermen and fishermens' wives. Those fish nets are my great grandmother's kitchen curtains. How warm and fuzzy can it get?! I got those several years ago from my grandma. I had no idea what I would do with them, but I felt it was important to hold on to them. Now they proudly hang at Who Cut The Cheese.

There is a Plethora of nicknacks hanging around. Lounging ducks and a cute pig came from my mom's house, as did one of the wine racks. Everybody is here!

Let's talk about the artwork. My friend the Greek turned me on to Annika. She was just finishing his private dining room in a full Mediterranean scene. Incredible! Well, Johnny was so excited about my old world concept, he interrupted Annika's work at his restaurant to have her come bond with the shop which was completely stripped. Oh my goodness! And what a job she did. Annika is only 23 years old and soooo very talented. She's so cute to quote "I've never done a goat...I've never done a vineyard or grapes." Just look at Chevy our goat --how cute is he? And can't forget the cheese "cave" in which the chianti bottle hangs out in. She even dedicated a wheel of cheese to Who Cut The Cheese. Oh, did I forget to mention, Annika never painted cheese either!
